Fashion

When I turned eleven I started to like drawing clothes. I started to match all my clothes up and started to wear boots with anything I wore. One day when I was sitting at the table, really bored my mom printed me off some paper dolls. Instead of cutting it out and playing with them, I started to draw some clothes on them. I started off with a nice pink outfit, but you don’t want to see it because it looks like a train wreck. I have made some nice outfits that I’m going to show you and some of the clothes my mom made. Now that I’m twelve I have a friend at church that has a fashion book that she and I draw clothes in all the time. Here are some of the clothes that my mom and I made!

My Dog

My dogs name is Waylon Jennings Duke of Schnauzer. We named him this name because almost every dog we get we name them a famous person’s name.* He is 8 months old and is very spoiled. The reason why we got a schnauzer is because we have had lots of big dogs and wanted a small dog this time. When we first saw him there was a smaller one that we were going to get, but Waylon was the first one that came up to us so we got him instead. When he first came it was very hard to sleep at night because of his crying, but he finally grew out of that stage. When he first came he was sleeping in the room with my mom. Then when he got older he moved into the dining room.

Now that he is 8 months old he is very smart and is very cute. When we first got him groomed we were scared because we didn’t know what kind of cut we wanted. So the first time we got him a puppy trim instead of a big dog trim. When he was six months we finally got the schnauzer cut and it was so cute on him.

He likes to play outside and likes to eat stuff that does not belong to him. His favorite thing to do is to play in the sand outside. He is very smart and has lots of good tricks he can do.

*My first dog's name was T*na Turner and then our Rottweiler was named, D*ana R*ss the Boss. When we decided to get this dog, we needed a name that represented other cultures than AA female singers.

My Car Show Trip

On Friday we went to a car show in F****, **. We were going to stay in our camper, but it was broken so we had to stay at my grandma’s house for the weekend. It was fun because I got to sleep in the big bed (Mommy Note: My mom has an extra mattress on top of a box spring and other mattress which makes her bed very high... so high that you need steps to get into it. The kids think this is the neatest thing) and that was cool.

When we went to the car show there were lots of cars there and they were really cool. Some were pink and some were red. All the cars we saw were old cars and maybe some were new. I’m not sure. Last year my grandma said they threw water in the street and the cars would skid down the street. She said it was very fun and scary. We also had Coney dogs from Coney Island. I ate four and they were really good.

We took our dog with us, but we did not take him with us to the car show because he is only 8 months old and is very spoiled.

On the last night we had a movie and it was funny and none of us got the message except for my mom who didn’t even try to explain it to us.

We left about 2:00pm and it took us three hours to get home because we had lots of stops to make. It was a very fun trip and nobody got in trouble. This car is a 1966 Dodge Plymouth. It is one of the cars we saw at the car show. It is an old police car. I took a picture of it because I thought it was cool.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

This year I am starting the Seventh Grade. I was very nervous at first because I didn’t think I was going to make it. In Sixth Grade I didn’t do so well. I was getting good grades, but I was not focusing very well, so my mom had to figure out if I was ready for the seventh grade or not. I made it to the seventh grade and it isn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be.

On Mondays my first hour is Guitar and Music. My mom bought me a teach yourself book. I was supposed to practice playing, but our camper broke down and the guitar took a ride with it to the shop. My second class is Language Arts. I usually do well in it, but this year it is really hard because of the new things they are having me do like the dialects. I just don’t get it so I am still working on it. My third hour is Bible. This class is the best class because you get to learn more about God and what He did for all of us. Math is my fourth hour and I did not do well last year. This year it is very easy because I am learning about integers. I love doing integers because it’s fun and easy. Lunch is next. I love lunch because you get to go outside for recess I don’t really care about the eating part just the playing part. History and Geography is after lunch. I love history and geography because you get to learn about the earth and it is fun. Science is my last class now that I am in the seventh grade. I get out at 1:55pm. Science is one of my classes that I am really bad at. Its not that I can’t learn it, I just don’t like to do it so usually I get a lot of bad grades in science. My other electives are blogging and foreign language.

That’s all of my classes and I don’t really miss summer yet and I hope I don’t start to. That would be really bad.

Spelling Homework

This week I had 20 words on my spelling list. Here are 10 sentences that I had to write for homework:

Are you ready to talk to me or are you still mad?
Here is your lesson I want you to do it.
Here comes the bridal!
Take the dog to the fishery.
All she does is wail all night.
Finding my homework is not my interest.
My favorite color is indigo.
We have a hickory in our back yard!
Can you hand me that vise over in my toolbox.
Do not mess with that metal it will hurt you.

My mom said I need to work on using commas and using words in the right meaning.

My New Phone

For Christmas, I got a cell phone. Before I could use my phone, my mom had to set some rules so that I know what I can do with the phone and what I cannot do. My phone is a Tracfone.™ This that means that I have to buy minutes for my phone. Each month I have to give my mom some money so she can buy the minutes. Here are the rules:

First rule is: Mommy keeps the phone with her.
Second rule is: I may answer calls from my family only.
Third rule is: I may call my immediate family only.
Fourth rule is: I will be contributing $5 every month to buy minutes.

I think my rules are fair because it is my first time having a phone and I need to start with rules so I will not mess up. My mom wants me to use my phone only for when I go shopping and for calling my family so that I will not use up all my minutes. I am going to follow my rules because it is the right thing to do so that I will not get in trouble. I like my phone.

Christmas, New Year & Back to School

Christmas

*Christmas is Jesus’ birthday.
*On Christmas, we should give a gift to Jesus.
*Christmas is a holiday to spend time with your family.
*You should thank God for Christmas and for his Son.
*I got many good presents for Christmas; the best Christmas gift I got this year was my cell phone.

New Years

*On New Years, you should think about what you are going to change.
*You should put all the bad things behind you.
*You should thank God for a New Year and another chance.
*You should have fun with your family and celebrate.
*We made a snack tray with cheese, pepperoni, olives, and crackers.

Back to School
*It was hard coming back to school because we stayed up late and slept in during Christmas break.
*When you go back to school, you should try to have a good attitude.
*Sometimes praying before lessons helps.
*You should never give up on your schoolwork.
*I cannot wait until spring break.

Home Economics

Friday I made meatballs. I made them because I had a lesson about them that day.
The recipe wanted me to put 2 pounds of meat in them, but I only had one pound so I had to half everything in the recipe. It was difficult making the recipe, but cooking it was not that hard. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients
2 ½ slices of bread
1 pound of ground beef
¼ cup of ketchup
1 tablespoon of mustard
1 ½ teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon of Italian seasonings
¼ of a teaspoon of salt
A dash of pepper
½ and a 8th of milk
Preheat oven on 350

First, I preheated the oven on 350 degrees.
Second, I took my bread and cut the crust of the bread, Then I cut the bread into cubes then I put that aside.
Third, I put the ground beef into a large bowl.
Then I put the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper in the bowl with the meat.
The fifth thing I did was place the bread cubes on top of everything that was in the bowl, then I poured the milk onto the bread.
The sixth thing I did was I mixed all the ingredients together with my hands.
The next to the last thing I did was I took a handful of meat {about 1/3 cup} and shape it into a ball. Place the meatballs on a pan close together, but not touching.

The last thing I did was to bake them for 20 minutes or until they were done.
When they are done remove from the pan with a slotted spoon. Then enjoy.

I also made fried potatoes and corn from a can. It was good.

The Best Vacation Ever!!!

On October 31, 2009 my family and I went on vacation to the Bahamas. We stayed for the whole month of November. Before the trip we had to catch up on all of our schoolwork because we did not take our school with us, instead we took our Summer Bridge Workbook that we had worked on while we were on summer vacation.

For packing, we had to make a list; every body had three swimming suites, one outfit, and two pairs of shoes. We had four suit cases because we had many things on are list to take with us. We had to take a cooler because we do not go to the store until the next day we are there.

The first week we stayed at a resort called [******]. We usually stay at another place called [*****]. At [*****], there is a nice big beach and two pools. One of the pools was right in front of our condo so we could go swimming all the time. There was also a tennis court at [*****]. We have never stayed there before, but I liked it.

The second week we went and stayed at [******], that is were we go every year. This week I had a friend that I met last year. Her name is C***. She was very fun and nice. We played in the pool and out on the beach. She left Sunday.

At night, my mom takes us for night swims. It is very fun because she takes pictures of us jumping in the pool. We do not go down in the ocean because at night, the stingrays come near the beach. I have never seen one, but it happened to my brother once.

The third week we also stayed at [******]. This week some girls came down and we played games and had lots of fun. I had never met these girls before. This was there first time going to the Bahamas. It was very fun because we get to meet people from all over the world. My mom has some friends that go down there every year. They are from Canada. We also meet new people every year.

The last week we were there I had nobody to play with, but it was still fun. This week went by fast. We had to pack every day so we would not lose anything. On the last day, my grandma did not want to come home and she was a little grouchy, but she got over it and now she is back to her routine. We had a very good time and I hope we do it next year.

We did not come back to school until today (Wednesday) because my mom had some things to do, but now we're back in school and we are still learning. Thank you for reading my article and have a nice holiday. I will write again next week.

Voice Lessons

Today I am going to go get some voice lessons. We are a member of a Home school group. I asked my mom if she could sign me up for voice lessons, so she put a thread on our home school web site to get information about voice lessons. Ten minutes later, four people told my mom that they knew of someone that gave voice lessons.

Therefore, my mom called one of the women and she said she would take me today. Her name is Miss Tessa and I am so excited. The name of the song I am going to sing “Is Open Thee Eyes of My Heart”. The reason why my mom did this is because I have always liked to sing. It has always been fun for me.

A Book Review

I read a book called A Little Princess by Frances Hodges. It is about a girl named Sara who has a very rich dad named Captain Crew. Sara had to go to a school called Miss Minchin’s Select Seminary for Young Ladies. The reason why she had to go there is because Captain Crew had to do a very big job. When they arrived, Sara was to have everything she wanted. When Captain Crew left Sara had everything, she wanted. On Sara’s birthday Captain Crew died of a brain fever. Miss Minchin took all of Sara’s presents from her, took all her good clothes, and turned her into a servant. Sara would have to do everything that Miss Minchin told her to do. Miss Minchin would not feed Sara at all. One day Miss Minchin walked in and Sara had food and nice clothes. From a person next door, who saw Sara was being treated badly. Therefore, he gave her meals, clothes, and shoes. When Miss Minchin saw this, she said she was going to call the police and she did call the police. When the police came, Sara was crossing from her houses to her neighbor’s house by climbing on a piece of wood. When she made it to her neighbor’s house, she saw the man who saved her. She and the man lived happily ever after.

I saw the movie version of this and it was good. It was different form the book, because in the book the dad had died, but he did not die in the movie. I liked the movie better.

Home Economics

Today in Home Economics, I baked blueberry muffins.

I had to go shopping. It was very difficult at first, but after I got some help, it was not that hard. There was a woman who helped me a lot to find the blue berries. After she helped me, I was able to do it by myself. I got the batter first then I got the cupcake papers. It was fun.

The measuring was very cool and easy. Measuring the oil was very hard for me because it kept spilling out but that was the only thing that was hard. You have to make sure you do not put too much of the ingredients in the batter because then it will not be good. You have to lay out all of the ingredients before you start cooking. I was scared that I would get burned but I dealt with it. It was very fun.

I have just tasted my muffins they are fabulous! They were very good and I love to cook them.

My first post

Hi, my name is Jordan I am eleven years old. I am in the sixth grade. My favorite subject in school is Bible. The reason why I like Bible is because it tells so much about God. What's yours? I have three brothers and I am the only girl. We have a little baby; he is eight months old. I love him so much. His favorite things to do is eat, sleep, and play. My favorite thing to do when I have free time is write songs and to sing the song I write. Some times it is hard to come up with ideas. I will share some songs, but not on the first day.

Meet Princess Puppy

This blog has been set up for my 6th grade daughter, Jordan. Jordan has been home schooled since 3rd grade and is such a remarkable learner. I have always been amazed at how she loves to read and take in new information. Jordan loved to sing, writes her own songs and reads almost as fast as I do. Look forward to some great writing from her this year.
